Karthika Nair

Karthika is a French-Indian poet and dance producer and curator. She is the author of several books. Her poetry has been widely published in anthologies and journals across the world and her Until the Lions, a reimagining of the Mahabharata in multiple voices, won the 2015 Tata Literature Live! Award for fiction. Akhram Kahn adapted the latter for dance, and she was the principal scriptwriter for his DESH. As a dance enabler, she has worked with choreographers such as Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and Damien Jalet, amongst others, and worked on two Olivier-Award winning productions- Babel/Words and Puzz/zle.

Karthika collaborated with Carlos Pons Guerra on the creation of the libretto for Mariposa: a Queer Tragedy Inspired by Puccini’s Madame Butterfly, as well as acting as the production’s dramaturge.
