Passionaria Workshop

DeNada Dance Theatre is looking for 6 dancers/physicalperformers (student or professional) to join the company in its creative process, for a 4 day workshop exploring and developing choreographer Carlos Pons Guerra's Passionaria, a Fantasia of Ham and Sequins. An anxiously gripping solo set in a dingy cabaret during the Spanish Civil War, Passionaria deals with murder, guilt and exorcism, delving into the grotesque and the highly stylized, exploring transgenderism in times of political fear, all framed within the conventions of melodrama.

The 4 day workshop will include daily class, choreographic workshops and character work led by Carlos Pons Guerra, with the possibility of one day being dedicated to a butoh workshop with butoh artist Alison Grace. The workshop is free of charge.

Workshop dates: 30th March‐ 2nd April 2015 (with possible extension to 7‐8 April)

Location: Northern School of Contemporary Dance, Leeds.

To apply or express interest, please email a brief letter of motiviation, CV or short account of dance experience, and if available, video links, to: workshops@denada-dance.com, before Tuesday 17th March 2015. Selected candidates will be notified by Thursday 19th March.
