DeNada DT awarded Arts Council England funding for 'Ham and Passion'

DeNada Dance Theatre is delighted to announce it has been successful in its latest application for Arts Council England's Grant for the Arts, which will enable the company to produce its triple bill of dance works, Ham and Passion, in preparation for touring in 2015.

With the awarded funds, the company will develop its three current productions (Young Man!, O Maria and Passionaria) through rehearsal at DanceXchange, Birmingham, and the Northern School of Contemporary Dance, Leeds. The grant will allow choreographer Carlos Pons Guerra to further his mentoring relationship with Olivier Award winning choreographer Javier de Frutos, and to collaborate with established costume and set designers. Alongside its time in the studio, the company will also deliver a series of outreach activities to offer an insight into DeNada Dance Theatre's quirky, kitschy style.

More information to follow on the company's plans and the progress of the project.

Choreographer Carlos Pons Guerra and DeNada Dance Theatre are very grateful to Arts Council North as well as all the institutions and individuals who have supported the Grants for the Arts application, including:

DanceXchange, The Northern School of Contemporary Dance, Yorkshire Dance, Homotopia Festival, Bradford Theatre in the Mill,  Spin Arts Management, Brighton Pink Fringe, Ovalhouse London, Phil Hargreaves and RDC Youth.
