Marivi Da Silva (Spain), originally from Barcelona, began her early training in rhythmic gymnastics competing at national level. She completed her dance training at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance. In 2012 founded DeNada Dance Theatre with Carlos Pons Guerra, where she has created roles in Passionaria (Anna), Young Man!(Man in Yellow/Death) and O Maria (Concepción). Marivi was nominated for the 2016 UK Critics' Circle National Dance Awards in the category of 'Outstanding Female Performance: Modern', for her role in Pons Guerra's Young Man!. She assists Pons Guerra as rehearsal director for the company and in his external commissions. Da Silva has also danced for independent companies including Sardoville and Instant Dissidence, performing the works of choreographers Luca Silvestrini and Rita Marcalo amongst others. Marivi is also a freelance teacher and lecturer in contemporary dance technique and embodying historical dance practices at Leeds Beckett University.
