Michael Barnes

Born in the UK, Michael has danced for companies and choreographers including Richard Alston, Shobana Jeyasingh, Nigel Charnock, Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures (Swan Lake), the National Dance Company of Wales, BGroup, Gary Clarke Dance Company and Lia Tirabasso, and has performed in multiple operas with the Royal Opera House, English National Opera and Salzburg Easter Festival. Michael has also worked extensively in film, including dancing Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui’s choreography for the film Anna Karenina (dir. Joe Wright); he was a movement artist for The Mummy (Universal Studios, dir. Alex Reynolds) and featured in Goodbye Christopher Robin (dir. Simon Curtis). He has also worked in television for series such as Mr. Selfridge and The Crown, and danced in Will Young’s Losing Myself music video with choreography by Aletta Collins. Michael trained at the London School of Contemporary Dance and Suny Purchase Conservatory of Dance, New York.
