A FANTASIA OF HAM AND SEQUINS

Passionaria
A fantasia of ham and sequins
This study in melodrama tells the story of Anna La Passionaria, a drag artiste during the Spanish Civil War, who murders her Fascist and abusive lover backstage. Set to Manuel de Falla’s haunting score for El Amor Brujo, this passionate, anxious and hilarious solo is an ode to all those who struggle in oppressive societies and who must fight for the right to become their true selves.
