Ham and Passion
“Funny, sexy and flamboyant” The Observer/Guardian
★★★★ The Stage
DeNada Dance Theatre present a gender-bending evening of seductive and provocative dance choreographed by Carlos Pons Guerra. From a dingy cabaret in Civil War Barcelona, where a drag artiste murders her fascist lover backstage, passing through a lustful duel of seduction between two machos, and ending with a divine apparition in a kitchen of 1950's Seville, Ham and Passion is an exhilarating and filmic spectacle that promises to subvert the senses.
Choreographed by National Dance Awards Nominee (Best Emerging Artist 2015) Carlos Pons Guerra, Ham and Passion is performed by an international cast of dancers- Azzurra Ardovini (Italy), Marivi Da Silva (Spain), Phil Sanger (UK), Lisard Tranis (Spain) - to an eclectic soundtrack of Latin vintage classics and Manuel de Falla's El Amor Brujo, with costume and set design by Ryan Dawson Laight (Drunk, Le Gateau) and lighting by Barnaby Booth.
